Adams-Friendship Area Educational Foundation
Working on behalf of students, staff and community to improve educational quality and learning opportunities!
Mission Statement:
The Adams-Friendship Area Educational Foundation, Inc. will work on behalf of the students, staff, and community to improve educational quality, including instruction, facilities, and scholarships by providing a structure for people and organizations to contribute funds for the advancement of achievement and learning opportunities in the Adams-Friendship Area School District.
We Reach For The Stars...
Following incorporation and the establishment of a Board of Directors, By Laws, and Mission, the Adams-Friendship Area Educational Foundation, Inc. identified several ways to support schools and community through scholarships and a variety of educational projects. Foundation members “reached for the stars” by establishing a goal to raise one million dollars toward the building of a performing arts center for the Adams-Friendship School District and community. This ambitious target was realized in 2015 with the passing of a referendum by the district electorate and the contribution of 1.5 million dollars obtained through the Foundation’s fundraising efforts along with generous donor support. Ground breaking took place in the spring of 2016, and the Adams-Friendship Fine Arts Center was dedicated on November 20, 2016.
Over the years, the Foundation’s campaign has been successful in raising awareness about the need for raising “Gift Dollars” to support scholarships, various school presentations, the Academic Hall of Fame, and the Fine Arts Center project.
The Foundation is a fully independent entity which cooperates with the Board of Education to enhance objectives of both organizations throughout the community. A Board of Education liaison typically serves as a Foundation member.
Adams-Friendship has a rich history of providing quality education for its students and staff, allowing them to achieve to the best of their ability. Reduced levels of public funding and increased costs have meant that school districts have fewer dollars to accomplish their state mandated mission. This makes the role of an active Foundation in the community even more important.
About Us
On February 25, 2002, the seeds for what would become the Adams-Friendship Area Educational Foundation were planted at an informational meeting held at Adams-Friendship High School. Chuck Parr (Class of 1957) welcomed 20 guests to discuss whether the school district and community would benefit from such an organization. District Administrator Steven LaVallee presented a list of questions concerning need, potential purpose/goals, fund raising and use of funds. After small group discussions, the overwhelming answer to whether a foundation should be formed was a resounding “yes”. The organization of a non-profit was established in May of 2002. The official name of the Foundation became the “Adams-Friendship Area Educational Foundation, Inc."
